CHEOLO Safety Centre — Make Every First Meeting a Considered Choice
Your safety is more important than any match
Meeting someone during a trip can be exciting, but online profiles and charming conversations cannot tell you everything about a person. CHEOLO helps people connect; it cannot guarantee that a member's identity, intentions or claims are genuine. Make decisions at your pace and leave any interaction that makes you uncomfortable.
Before you agree to meet
Take time to talk through the platform. Look for consistency between a person's profile and their messages. Be cautious of anyone rushing you into a private venue, changing the meeting place repeatedly or asking you to move immediately to a messaging app with less accountability. Consider a voluntary video call through a service you trust; even video is not proof against sophisticated impersonation or deepfakes.
Keep money and travel documents private
Do not send bank details, gift cards, cryptocurrency or emergency loans to someone you have only met online. Never share one-time passwords. Be especially careful with passport photos, visas, hotel confirmations and boarding passes, which can expose identity information, booking references and travel movements. Book your own accommodation and transport through providers you have independently assessed.
Make a safer first Rendezvous
Choose a public location with staff and other people present. Decide on your own transport, keep your phone charged and tell a trusted person where you will be. If you use alcohol, be mindful of your surroundings and never leave a drink unattended. Consent matters at every stage: a date invitation is not permission for touch, intimacy, travel together or sharing personal information.
Your digital privacy
Use platform visibility options, avoid posting real-time location, and consider whether trip dates or identifiable backgrounds reveal where you will sleep or work. Keep conversations inside the app until you've built trust. Change your password and contact support if you believe your account has been compromised.
Understanding checks and badges
A checked photograph, where offered, is not government ID verification, a criminal-record check, evidence of background screening or a safety guarantee. CHEOLO's biometric FaceTrust system is disabled for real members while live adaptive-video attack resistance and legal assessments remain incomplete. Never use a badge as your only reason to trust a stranger.
Report, block and appeal
Use Report if you see harassment, threats, scams, impersonation, exploitation or suspected underage accounts. Use Block to stop unwanted contact through available features. If there is immediate danger, leave the situation and contact local emergency services instead of waiting for support. You may also email support@cheolo.com with a relevant profile, trip or conversation reference. Learn what happens next in Report and Appeals.
After an uncomfortable experience
You do not need to remain in contact out of politeness. Save relevant evidence safely, stop communicating and seek local assistance where appropriate. If personal data or money has been stolen, consider notifying the relevant payment provider or law-enforcement authority.
Remember: The best travel memories should begin with choice and respect. If someone doesn't respect yours, you don't owe them a meeting.
